Best budget 2011 / Double Stack 1911
Review by Jay F. on 12 Jun 2024 review stating Best budget 2011 / Double Stack 1911
I was fortunate to pick up the last one in stock here at Rainier Arms, and I’ve been pretty happy so far. Having a variety of 1911‘s from a cheap Springfield G.I. 45 to custom 1911s going into the thousands of dollars, this is a fantastic option for those with budget in mind.

11s in arms reach of this price range, but they usually don’t have the same features. One of the big ones is being optic ready. Then there’s also the fact that once you do reach that price point of about 1000 bucks, it’s not that much more just to jump to a Springfield Prodigy.
The best things about this is what it offers at the $750 price point. I do think that the nickname “Turkatto” is fitting for the most part. It does use staccato magazines, and it does work with Springfield prodigy mags. It is optic ready, and a lot of the competitors in the same price range are not because they pre-date the optic craze in general. It’s simple, and no-frills. It’s what you would expect out of a 1911 that costs 750 bucks.
Now there might be a few dealbreaker for some of you folks reading this. The first one is probably the optic footprint. They decided to go with the RMSC footprint, which is common with most carry guns. The reason why a lot of people cut 1911 slides for that pattern is due to the width, but I feel like that concept is a little bit outdated. Having a larger optic with a bigger window that hangs off the edges of the slide is not a big deal, and a lot of manufacturers are doing that with their 1911s as well as other slim slides. Another issue some folks might have is that it doesn’t have a bull barrel and a utilizes a G.I. plug. They obviously did this to keep the price down, but this does decrease the weight of the front of the gun which some people might feel affects the felt recoil. The last issue is simply build quality. With all of the parts essentially being “drop in” fit don’t expect tight fitment with the slide, moving like butter. The trigger feels like any standard G.I. 1911 in terms of weight and break.
Going into this purchase, I knew about many of these shortcomings from the get-go, and I feel like these are things you should live with if you are going to make this purchase at that price point. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to buy this gun and upgrade it like crazy and end up spending more than you would have on a factory pistol that has everything that you’re looking for already.
That being said, if you’re going to get this gun, I think you should just throw an optic on it and have fun. Maybe do little things like getting a one piece guide, rod and tune the recoil spring weights to your loads/preferred ammo. Perhaps a magwell, but that’s about it.
If speed is important, then maybe you might want to do something about that trigger, but this gun definitely falls into the cheap and accurate category. Using a B27 center, I ran three magazines (51 rounds) back to back with no break in presentation and put 50/51 rounds in the X/10 ring at 15 yards unsupported in 150 seconds. The one shot in the nine ring, is probably more zero related. I could’ve probably done it much faster if the trigger had a smoother break. This trigger gets really stiff and then collapses suddenly.
Anyhow, if this is a purchase, you’re going to make for financial reasons, and all you can afford is a gun and an optic, this is definitely not a bad choice. Read LessRead less about I was fortunate to pick up the last
